The first super sedan I ever fell in love with. (Although the one I liked was technically the Opel Lotus Omega version.)

It pissed off The Daily Mail so as far as I am concerned it’s the greatest car ever made.

It looks like a Ford Sierra nose with a touch of Saab stapled to a Merc 190E Evo 2 body (sans whale tale). That is to say, awesome.

Every time I walk into the garage, or up to it in a lot, I’d be doing that too!

You could say it wouldn't be unusual for you to do that dance.

I think headlight wipers need to make a come back. Especially in a snowy area with led lights which aren’t warm enough to keep the snow from building up.
Oh and if course the Carlton is awesome. It rather unique!

I’d have one over a Thema 8.32 and a Safrane Biturbo, but it wouldn’t stop me from wanting a Thema 8.32 and a Safrane Biturbo.

It was referred to as a ‘Thunder Saloon’ at the time.

Not quite. For that you would want an M5 (E28 or even better, E34) which do have the ability to keep going if you have to force your way, say, through a roadblock. Plus rock-solid reliability. That much was mentioned by people in the trade to the late, great Russell Bulgin of Car, years ago.
If the idea is just to power away from the police – not for long, and without the need to survive some sort of contact with barriers, blocking cars and suchlike – a Sierra Cosworth, Thema 8.32 or, indeed the Lotus Omega/Carlton would be just the ticket. There were rumours that as soon as the 8.32 was put on the market some guys in Italy started planning robberies relying on its abilities as a fast getaway car.
I understand that the Sierra was indeed a hot favourite for quick “jobs”, as you say – at least if the UK forums on the model are to be believed.
In most cases a nondescript white Transit in fast-ambulance/-police spec (that is, with a big Essex or Cologne V6) would probably be a better bet though.
